Terms of use
Version 1. Effective 7 October 2026.
1. Who we are
ClearCut Commissions is a service of Ethical Tech Solutions ("we", "us"), Thornhill, Ontario, Canada. These terms cover the website clearcutcommissions.com and the app at app.clearcutcommissions.com. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to them.
2. What ClearCut Commissions is, and what it is not
- It is a record. A business sets its referral terms, and the business and its partners see the same entries.
- We never hold or move money. Businesses pay partners directly, by their own methods, and record those payments here.
- We are not a party to any agreement between a business and its partners. That agreement is between them.
- Records, not endorsements. We check that each business exists and that its program reads clearly. We do not vouch for any business, its products or its services, or for any partner.
- Commissions are one level only. The service does not support overrides, recruiting bonuses or payments for signing up other partners.
3. Accounts
- You must be at least 18, and give accurate information.
- If you set up a business, you confirm you are authorized to act for it.
- You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us at hello@clearcutcommissions.com if you think someone else has used it.
4. If you run a business on ClearCut Commissions
You agree to:
- Publish terms that are accurate and that you will honour. Terms in effect on the date a referral is received apply to that referral.
- Pay partners what your published terms and your partner agreement say, when they say it, and record each payment honestly.
- Record moments, corrections and refunds accurately and without delay, and answer partners' questions about entries in good faith.
- Follow the laws that apply to you, including Canada's anti-spam law (CASL), privacy law, consumer protection law and tax reporting such as T4A slips.
- Check your own profession's rules. Some professions, such as health, legal, real estate, insurance and investments, limit or forbid paying referral fees. You are responsible for knowing and following them.
- Use your own partner agreement, or the starter wording we provide. The starter wording is a starting point, not legal advice; have your own lawyer review it.
5. If you are a referral partner
You agree to:
- Recommend honestly. Do not make promises on a business's behalf, or claims about it that you don't know to be true.
- Only pass on someone's contact details after they have agreed to be contacted.
- Follow CASL when you send commercial emails or texts: only to people who agreed to hear from you, saying who you are and who you are acting for, with a way to opt out.
- Not refer yourself or your own household unless the business agrees in writing.
- Understand that you are independent, not an employee of the business or of us, and that you are responsible for your own taxes.
Being a referral partner is free.
6. Not allowed
You may not use ClearCut Commissions to:
- offer anything illegal, or a product or service that needs a licence you don't hold;
- run a multi-level, pyramid or recruiting-based scheme;
- make misleading claims, including earnings promises to partners;
- send spam, or collect people's details without their consent;
- record entries you know are false, or interfere with the service or other users' data.
7. The record
Entries are added, never edited or erased. A mistake is fixed with a new correction entry, so both sides can see what changed and when. Each business can export its own records.
8. Fees
- Referral partners pay nothing.
- Businesses choose a monthly plan or pay per result. The first month is free and no credit card is needed.
- Founding businesses agree their price with us in writing.
- We give at least 30 days' notice by email before changing what you pay. Fees are in Canadian dollars, plus applicable taxes.
9. Ending or suspending an account
- You may close your account at any time. A business can export its records before it does.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or doesn't pay its fees. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.
- Closing an account does not cancel amounts a business owes its partners. Records are kept for six years, as described in the privacy policy.
10. No promises about results
The service is provided as it is. We do not promise any number of referrals, customers or earnings, or that the service will always be available or free of errors.
11. Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits, or anything a business or partner does or fails to do, including payments between them. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before it, or $100 if you paid nothing.
12. Your responsibility to us
If you break these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the current version. For changes that matter, we'll email account holders at least 30 days before they take effect. Using the service after that means you accept the new version.
14. Law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and of Canada that apply there. Questions: hello@clearcutcommissions.com, or Ethical Tech Solutions, Thornhill.
